The E24 notification on your Bosch dishwasher signals that the drainage system is not performing correctly. The control board monitors the water levels by measuring the electrical current and RPM of the drain pump or the circulation (heat) pump, rather than relying on traditional mechanical float switches. If the controller detects that the motor is working too hard or drawing too much power—a sign that water is still present in the basin—it halts the cycle to prevent potential water damage in your home. While this is often triggered by simple blockages like a clogged micro-filter, a pinched drain hose, or debris obstructing the pump impeller, it can occasionally be a false alarm. If the drainage path is completely unobstructed, the error may stem from worn-out heat pump bearings or an electrical malfunction within the drain motor, which causes the control board to incorrectly register a full tub.

   Food particles, grease buildup, or labels can clog the micro-filter located at the bottom of the tub, which prevents water from reaching the drain pump.

How to clear / reset

To clear the E24 error, you must resolve the drainage obstruction. Begin by pulling out the bottom rack, removing the cylinder filter, and using a cup to bail out any standing water. Access the white plastic drain pump cover—use a spoon to assist if it is tight—and remove any debris from the impeller. Ensure the cover clicks securely back into place, as the pump will not operate without a proper seal. After clearing the path, reset the appliance by pressing and holding the 'Start' button for 3 to 5 seconds until the display reads '0:01'. Shut the door, allow about 60 seconds for the drain cycle to complete, and turn the unit off. Note that a hard reset, such as unplugging the machine for 5 minutes, will not resolve a damaged pump.
