What it means

The i30 error on an Electrolux dishwasher is a safety alert signal indicating that the anti-flood sensor has identified liquid sitting in the bottom base pan, also known as the drip tray. These units feature a styrofoam float switch positioned in the lowest area of the chassis under the main wash tub. If a leak develops—whether from a worn door seal, a cracked wash motor housing, a loose hose clamp, or an overfilling condition—water gathers in this tray. As the water level rises, the float lifts and engages a microswitch. Once the main electronic control board senses this closed-circuit signal, it halts the wash cycle immediately, flashes the i30 code, and forces the drain pump to run continuously to mitigate property damage. This pump will often remain active even if the door is opened, only stopping if you disconnect power or empty the base pan.

   Over time, the O-rings or plastic housing on the main wash motor can degrade or crack, leading to a persistent drip into the base pan during operation.

   Should the inlet valve fail to shut off mechanically, water will slowly seep into the tub, eventually overflowing the sump and spilling into the base pan.

   A brittle, torn, or misaligned bottom door gasket allows internal wave action to splash water past the seal and down into the machine's chassis.

   The internal drain hose running from the pump to the outside of the cabinet can develop pinhole leaks or loosen at the connection point, spraying water during the drainage cycle.

How to clear / reset

To stop the drain pump and clear the i30 error temporarily, you must cut power to the dishwasher by unplugging it or flipping the circuit breaker. Next, remove the water from the base pan. You can achieve this by sliding the dishwasher from your cabinets and tilting it backward at a 45-degree angle to drain the excess water onto a towel. Once the pan is dry and the float switch returns to the bottom, restoring power should clear the code. Note that if the source of the leak remains, the i30 code will reappear as soon as more water pools in the pan.
