Range Hood & Vent Hood Repair

We service all types of range hoods including under-cabinet, wall-mounted, island, and downdraft ventilation systems from every manufacturer.

A malfunctioning range hood affects air quality and can leave your kitchen smoky and greasy. We repair kitchen hoods, vent hoods and exhaust hoods: fans and blower motors, lights, switches and electronic controls.

Whether it's a noisy motor, weak suction, or non-working lights, our technicians find the cause and get your ventilation working again.

The visit starts with a $90 diagnostic. The technician tests the hood, explains what failed and gives you a repair quote before any work begins.

What We Fix on Range Hoods

Fan & blower motor

Fan that hums but does not spin, runs slowly, stops on one speed or overheats: we test the motor, its capacitor (on motors that use one) and the blower wheel, and replace the failed part.

Lights

Lights out or flickering: bulbs and LED modules, sockets, light switches, and the transformer or LED driver that powers them.

Controls, switches & boards

Buttons or touch panel not responding, fan speeds missing, hood turning on by itself: mechanical switches, touch controls and the control board.

Ducting & venting issues

Weak suction or rattling: we check the grease and charcoal filters, the backdraft damper and the duct connection at the hood to find what is blocking the airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does range hood repair cost?

The diagnostic visit is $90. After testing the hood, the technician gives you a repair quote before any work begins; the total depends on the part that failed and the type of hood.

Should I repair or replace my range hood?

It depends on the hood and the part that failed. Motors, switches, light sockets and control boards can usually be replaced on their own, which matters most for built-in, island and premium hoods. On a basic under-cabinet hood the technician will tell you if a new hood makes more sense.

Why is my range hood so loud?

Loud range hoods usually have a failing motor bearing, loose fan blade, or duct obstruction. We'll pinpoint and fix the issue.

Why does my range hood have weak suction?

Most often the grease filters are clogged or, on ductless hoods, the charcoal filter is saturated. A stuck backdraft damper, a blocked or crushed duct, or a slowing fan motor can also cut airflow. Clean or replace the filters first; if suction is still weak, the damper, duct and motor need checking.

Why are my range hood lights not working?

Usually a burned-out bulb or LED module. If a new bulb does not help, the cause is typically the light switch, the socket or wiring, or the transformer or LED driver that powers the lights.

Does a range hood charcoal filter need replacing?

Yes. Ductless (recirculating) hoods use charcoal filters that cannot be washed and lose effectiveness over time, so they must be replaced periodically. Metal grease filters on ducted hoods can be washed and reused.
